Lekki deep seaport
The only deep seaport in Nigeria that is run by a container terminal operator is the Lekki deep seaport, which is also the only deep seaport in Nigeria. It is going to become the largest container terminal in Nigeria and West Africa, and it has a massive potential for becoming fully automated, which will contribute to the extensive commercial activities that are carried out in Nigeria and West Africa as a whole. When it is finally finished, the Lekki deep seaport will have as its primary objective the promotion of the flow of international maritime trade between Nigeria and the rest of the world.
Available role at the Lekki deep seaport Recruitment
The Lekki deep seaport Recruitment team is seeking the following;
1. IT Specialist
Location: Lagos
Educational Qualification for the Lekki deep seaport
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering or other related fields or equivalent work experience.
- Certified courses on Terminal Automation and systems will be an advantage.
Experience:
- At least 7 Years of working experience with 5 years in the related field responsibility to support business critical applications.
Other Requirements needed at the Lekki deep seaport:
- Must have a strong analytical mind and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
- Database management software experience with SQL server and Oracle
- Skills in development
- Capability to work with people of different cultures in different time zones
- Strong skills of security measure to implement in application development/setup
- Port terminal experience is a MUST with a solid understanding of the IT environment.
- Knowledge of Business Process Modeling and Incident Investigation
- Ability to take on any operational requirements and turn them into business processes.
- Capable of developing and implementing IT test plans, including user training.
- Ability to create documentation and training materials as needed.
- Be able to work as part of a team, especially when meeting tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with Operations and IT personnel.
- Be able to use initiative and act independently or as part of a larger team, as well as prioritize workload to meet supervisor’s requirements.
- Have knowledge of application customization, database design, and system design.
- Have the confidence to suggest areas for improvement as well as potential solutions.
- Able to work under certain pressure circumstances.
- Demonstrated practical experience with TOS, Gate, and Yard systems.
- Producing detailed requirements and functional specifications for complex business requirements.
- Have demonstrable experience with application support, to be able to troubleshoot a wide variety of business application issues, and the ability to manage several activities simultaneously, often with stringent deadlines.
- Comply with the Health and Safety Policy and safe working practices, ensure responsibility for safety and discipline in the workplace.

2. Lasher
Location: Lagos
Critical Success Factors
Project Phase:
- Training attendance, as required.
- Performance progress during live equipment testing and yard familiarization exercise.
- Successful engagement on live equipment testing.
Operational Phase:
- Ensure achieving all agreed productivity targets with zero accident.
- Ensure quick and timely lashing activities on board with zero delays occurring as a result of lashing or unlashing activities.
- No loss to any terminal lashing equipment or vessel lashing equipment i.e. twist locks, lashing bars
- Seamless handover between shifts.

Qualifications & Experiences needed for the Lekki deep seaport
Education:
- First School Leaving Certificate – SSCE, WAEC, Technical Certificate is an added advantage
Experience & Knowledge:
- Requires at least one year experience working on board containerized vessel or more or related experience in terminal operations environment, or similar/related industry.
- Previous experience as a lasher would be an advantage.
- Is thoroughly familiar with the strict implementation of international standards of safe working practices and terminal operations or similar industry.
- Understanding of container terminal operations, especially vessel cargo logistics, hazardous cargo, break-bulk and special cargo handling requirements, and equipment is preferable.
- Previous experience of working in a multi-cultural environment is an advantage.
- No past record of safety and operational procedure breaches / warnings.
