Good news! University of Groningen Talent Grants is presently open. The academic institution is offering the Talent Grants for one-year Master’s program Theology & Religious Studies

Eligibility for University of Groningen Talent Grants

The Talent Grant is sponsored by the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies. The grant is meant for international scholars from OUTSIDE the European Economic Area (EEA) who want to do their Master’s in Theology and Religious Studies. The EEA consists of the EU nations and Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.

Scholars from nations outside the EU/EEA who have been enrolled to one of the tracks of the Master’s programme in Theology & Religious Studies:

  1. MA Religion and Pluralism: Ancient & Modern;
  2. MA Religion, Conflict and Globalization;
  3. MA Religion and Cultural Heritage;
  4. MA Religion, Health and Wellbeing.

Applicants should:

  1. Possess a non-EU/EEA passport and will not be qualified for support under the Dutch system of study grants and loans.
  2. Have gotten conditional admission to one of the three MA tracks in Theology and Religious Studies;
  3. Get outstanding academic performance and grades during their bachelor/ undergraduate studies;
  4. Not have already gotten a master’s degree from an academic institution in the Netherlands;
  5. Have excellent English language proficiency, based on the admission prerequisites of the program;
  6. Be accessible for the whole time of the program and be able to take part in the whole program;
  7. Confirm in writing their agreement with that of the grant when granted with the Talent Grant.

University of Groningen Talent Grants Selection Criteria

A committee will review the applications. Students are nominated on the grounds of academic excellence (i.e. results obtained in study program, academic paper, general evaluation of prior education etc.) and of the candidates’ motivational statements. Conclusions are made in March (for the September intake). Applicants will be notified eventually on 15 May.

Applicants should f ill in the application form and add the documents below to apply for University of Groningen Talent Grants:

  1. Duplicate of your University of Groningen (conditional) admission letter to the MA Theology and Religious Studies programme from the Admission Board;
  2. Letter of Recommendation by a PhD or Professor from your current/last degree programme;
  3. Transcript of Records from your present/last degree programme;
  4. Letter of motivation (in Word) of a maximum of 500 words, in which you specify why you believe you should be considered for this grant;
  5. Curriculum Vitae.
