The Epistemologies Chair of the Global South at the University of Bayreuth calls for applications for a part-time role (50 %) for a Doctoral Researcher in the Study of Decolonization and Epistemologies of the Global South to begin on 1st of October, 2020 or as soon as possible after the said date.
To commence University of Bayreuth Epistemologies Research Program on the 1st of October, 2020, or as soon as possible after this date. The contract period will be four years. If the personal and collectively agreed conditions are achieved, the wage will fall into the pay grade E 13 TV-L. The doctoral academic researcher will be offfered the chance to pursue her/his degree within the Bayreuth International Graduate School of African Studies (BIGSAS).
The role needs individuals that are interested in the subsequent thematicfields: epistemologies of the Global South, decolonial/postcolonial studies, African/black female scholars, radical black tradition, theory from the South, decolonial feminism, decolonizing knowledge, and decolonizing African Studies

Eligibility for University of Bayreuth Epistemologies Research Program
- A Masters or MPhil in whichever of the following areas of study: African Studies, Anthropology, History, Sociology, Philosophy, Gender Studies, and Development Studies with a focus on Caribbean, Africa, Latin America, or Asia, is preferred.
- The successful applicant must to have the capability for teamwork in an interdisciplinary research setting. Her/his responsibilities also comprise the provision of academic services for the Chair of Epistemologies of the Global South. Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required. Skills in German language are welcomed but not a precondition.
