Government-funded scholarships
Australian Awards Scholarships (Australia)
Australia Awards Scholarship was formerly known as Australia Development Scholarships (ADS), this scholarship accommodates students from selected countries in Asia, Pacific, Africa and the Middle East who are interested in studying in Australian universities. Australia Awards Scholarships are geared towards vocational education and training courses, undergraduate degrees, postgraduate degrees and PhD degrees at participating Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions. Benefits of this scholarship includes full tuition fees, return air travel, establishment allowance, contribution to living expenses (CLE), Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), etc.
DAAD Scholarships for Development Related Postgraduate Courses (Germany)
The German Academic Exchange service (DAAD) provides scholarships for a number of post graduate courses with great importance to developing countries at German universities. Specifically the scholarship aims at getting international students and young professionals from developing countries in Asia, Central and South America, Pacific Islands, Africa, and Central and Eastern Europe. DAAD Scholarship supports some programs that are either full or partial scholarships.
Netherlands Fellowship Program (Netherlands)
NFP encourages and promotes capacity building within groups in over 51 countries by providing training and education for students. The fellowship offered by NFP are Master studies, PhD studies or short courses at Dutch Universities or academic platforms. NFP fellowship is supposed to supplement the salary the fellow is to receive during the period of study. The allowance is to support the costs of living, tuition fees, visas, travel insurance and student’s research.
Swedish Institute Study Scholarships (Sweden)
For students who are qualified from developing countries to study in Swedish universities under the Swedish institute study scholarships, tuition fee, living expenses, travel insurance would be catered for and about 550 scholarships are offered.
VLIR-UOS Scholarships (Belgium)
54 developing countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America are eligible to pursue an English taught training under VLIR-UOS Scholarships and these programs. The scholarships caters for tuition fee, accommodation, travel costs, allowance and others.
Institution- Funded Scholarships
Joint Japan World Bank Scholarships (specified countries)
This program provides scholarships for students from developing countries to be able to access programs at selected countries around the world and the program also provides awards annually to cover the cost of completing a master’s degree, subsistence allowance, travel costs.
OFID Scholarships (any approved country)
OPEC Fund for International Development offers a fully funded scholarship to applicants from developing countries, interested in doing their master’s degree in an accredited University around the world. The person who wins the award would get a tuition support of about US$50,000 and also monthly allowance to cover expenses for living, accommodations and research materials.
Aga Khan Foundation Scholarships (any approved country)
This foundation provides a limited number of scholarships every year for post graduate students who have shown great competence and are from developing countries who have exhausted means every other means of financing their studies. Scholarships are awarded on a 50% grant: 50% loan basis through a competitive application process once a year. This foundation only supports students with tuition and living expenses. The scholar is also expected to choose a prestigious university subject to approval.
University-funded Scholarships
University of Westminster scholarships for developing countries (UK)
University of Westminster awards scholarships to students from any developing country who IS interested in studying in UK to pursue a full-time Master’s degree in any field of study at the University of Westminster. The scholarship covers full tuition fee waivers, cost of living accommodation and flight to and from London.
Developing solutions Scholarships at University of Nottingham (UK)
Development solutions scholarships are for international students from developing countries of the commonwealth who are interested in studying for master’s degree at the University of Nottingham to better their country. Every year, 105 scholarships will cover the full tuition fee while 75 will cater for 50% of the tuition fee.
University of Bradford Global Development Scholarships (UK)
Students undergoing hardships due to some issues associated to their country, like war, natural disasters , political instability etc. are eligible for the University of Bradford Global Development Scholarships, the scholarship is available for students already enrolled or are intending to start full time Master’s programs not MBA programs at the University of Bradford. Each scholarship is worth approximately £20,000 which includes full tuition fees, accommodation, and living costs.
Erik Bleumink Scholarships for Developing Countries at University of Groningen (Netherlands)
The Erik Bleumink Fund Scholarships are usually awarded for any 1 year or 2 years Master’s degree program or a 4-year PhD program offered at the University of Groningen. The scholarship caters for the tuition fees and also the costs of international travel, subsistence, books, and health insurance.
