Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future Fellowships invites applications from international female students who want to undertake PhD or Postdoctoral research degree at leading universities worldwide for academic year 2021/2022. Faculty for the Future awards are based on actual costs for eligible expenditures up to a maximum of USD50,000 each year for a PhD and maximum of USD 40,000 each year for a Post-doc and may be renewed through to conclusion of studies.
The Faculty for the Future program commenced in the year 2004, grants fellowships to females from developing and evolving economies to go for PhD or Post-doctoral research in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) at foremost universities worldwide.
The program’s long-term goal is to spawn conditions that result in more women pursuing scientific careers by reducing the barriers women face when entering STEM disciplines, thus decreasing the gender gap.

Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future Fellowships will provide the recipient with the following benefits:
- Faculty for the Future awards are based on actual costs for eligible expenditures up to a maximum of USD 50,000 each year for a PhD and maximum of USD 40,000 per year for a Post-doc and could be renewed during completion of studies.
- Renewal grants are based on performance, self-evaluation, references from supervisors and strong evidence of re-integration plans in the home country.
Eligibility for Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future Fellowships
To qualify for Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future Fellowships, candidate must fulfill all of the following requirements below:
- Required Language:English.
- Eligible Countries:All world countries.
- are a female and are a citizen of a developing nation or developing economy*. You are not qualified to apply if you have double citizenship of which one is citizenship of a developed nation. (N.B. If you have been granted a Faculty for the Future award and after the award you have citizenship of a developed nation, the award will be discontinued as of the date of such additional citizenship);
- are preparing for a PhD degree or post-doctoral research in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. Grants in biological sciences are restricted to interdisciplinary research between physical and biological sciences. The Faculty for the Future program does not aid Master level studies;
- are enrolled, admitted or have applied to a host academic institution/research institute overseas (applications are no longer accepted where an applicant has not yet applied to a university). If you are applying for a sandwich course the concluding degree must be granted by the Host University abroad (i.e., not from the home country university);
- have an excellent academic record;
- possess a proven track record of teaching skill or can prove commitment to teaching;
- can show active CONTRIBUTION in faculty life and outreach programs to inspire young women into the sciences;
- are eager to contribute to the socio-economic growth of your home country and region by strengthening the faculties in your home university, pursuing relevant research, or using your specific expertise to address public policy matters.
