Heinrich Boll Scholarships for International Students grants scholarships to graduates and doctoral students from outside Germany.

We maintain close ties to the German Green Party (Alliance 90/The Greens) and as a think tank for green visions and projects, they are part of an international network encompassing well over 100 partner projects in approximately 60 countries.
The Heinrich Böll Foundation works autonomously and fosters a spirit of intellectual transparency. They maintain a world wide network with currently 30 international offices. They cooperate closely with 16 state-level Böll Foundations in each of Germany’s federal states, and they support talented, socio-politically engaged undergraduate and graduate students in Germany and abroad.

Benefits of Heinrich Boll Scholarships for International Students
Masters Studies:
Non-EU scholars: €850 each month with several individual allowances; tuition fees are in certain cases possible in Germany.
EU students: varies, max. €649 plus €300 book expenses monthly; tuition fees not possible in Germany but possible to a limited degree in other nations.
The grant is given for the consistent period of study, may be prolonged by one semester.
PhD Studies:
Non-EU students: €1,200 per month plus €100 mobility allowance per month, plus various individual allowances; tuition fees are not possible.
EU scholars: €1350 monthly basic scholarship with €100 monthly research expenses allowance; tuition fees are not possible in Germany but possible to a limited extent in other nations.
Heinrich Boll Scholarships for International Students is awarded for two years as a rule, may be extended twice at most by half a year.
Eligibility for Heinrich Boll Scholarships for International Students
International Master Scholars who got their university entrance qualification outside Germany:
• You may apply before commencing your Master’s program or at any time up to the end of the first semester of the Master’s program.
• Evidence of first professional qualification must be made available
International Doctoral scholars who got the university entrance qualification outside Germany:
• Heinrich Boll Scholarships for International Students applicant must have been accepted as a doctoral student by a state or state-recognized university in Germany. Evidence of admission, as a rule in Germany, must be involved in the application.
• By the date of application, preliminary work must have been finished and a binding timetable for conclusion must be provided.
• PhD subjects associated to principal points of the Foundation’s activities will be prioritized.
