Applications are now open for DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship for Intelligent students from Sub-Saharan African (West and Central Africa or Southern African region) who wish to enroll for their degree program. The award is provided for the usual duration of a course – generally, up to two years for Masters and up to three years for the PhD degree programs.
Year in year out the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) provides financial support to students with big dreams but have no finance to pursue it. The DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme provides support for students from developing countries. Successful candidates will be awarded printing allowance, tuition fees, monthly allowance and study and research allowance. Health insurance and travel allowance will only be applicable In-Region scholarship holders.

Eligibility Criteria
Interested applicants in the DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme must meet the following requirements:
- Applicants must be with a first academic degree if applying for a Master’s programme, or
- Candidates must be with a master’s degree if applying for a doctoral programme
- Applicants who want to pursue Master’s or PhD courses in their home country (so called In-Country scholarships) or in another Sub-Saharan African country (In-Region scholarships).
- Must be a female applicants and candidates from less privileged regions or groups are especially encouraged to participate in the programme.
Application Procedures
Interested applicants in the DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme must submit their scholarship application to the host institution. After a pre-selection has been conducted, shortlisted applicants will be asked to submit their application again via the DAAD portal for the final selection. Candidates should please note that the application procedure may differ between the regions and host institutions and the specific application instructions regarding each host institution are listed in the respective calls for applications.
