Good news! Clinton Global Initiative University Program for Exceptional Students and Young Leaders is currently open.The Clinton Global Initiative University is looking for higher education student leaders who are dedicated to make exploits in their community to solve a pressing challenge. We are looking for undergraduate and graduate students across the world who is motivated to make a positive change in the areas of education, environment and climate change, peace and human rights, poverty alleviation, and public health. Scholars admitted into CGI U will partake in one year-round program that comprises access to: high-touch mentorship; a social impact curriculum; funding streams; and student engagement occasions, as well as the CGI U 2021 virtual yearly conference hosted by Howard University.
Every year, CGI U hosts a conference where scholars, university representatives, topic experts, and superstars come together to discuss and develop groundbreaking solutions to pressing global challenges. Students make their own Commitments to Action that approach problems on campus, in local communities, or around the globe. Since 2008, students have made beyond 6,250 pledges, and nearly $3 million in funding has been granted to these pledge-makers via CGI U. Further programming will also be presented to students via partnerships with the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, with a emphasis on civic issues and fiscal sustainability; IBM to assist students make app-based projects that address COVID-19 and climate change through Call for Code; and Verizon to help scholars develop groundbreaking technology solutions to pressing local issues, with the chance to win a spot in an accelerator program and pitch for seed funding.

Eligibility for Clinton Global Initiative University Program for Exceptional Students and Young Leaders
Candidates are qualified to apply to the CGI U Class of 2021 if the person has never previously been admitted to CGI U, the person at least 18 years of age, and is presently enrolled in an institution of higher learning at the time of application. Students can only submit one Commitment to Action; duplicate applications will not be acknowledged.

Benefits of Clinton Global Initiative University Program for Exceptional Students and Young Leaders
The program affords need-based travel support to a limited number of students to attend the CGI U conference. Students can apply for this assistance when they apply to attend CGI U (as noted below, students are only qualified for travel assistance if they apply by the Early Decision closing date).
Duration of Program: All admitted CGI U scholars are expected to be present for the entirety of the scheduled dates of the four online modules outlined below. Admitted scholars are required to attend and fully partake in all online module activities. The average time commitment is 3 hours for each module.
