Eligibility for GSK Scholarships for Future Health Leaders
To be eligible for GSK Scholarships for Future Health Leaders, applicants must:
- be residents of, and live in, nations in sub-Saharan Africa;
- aim to go back to sub-Saharan Africa on completion of their MSc year at LSHTM;
- endorse that they would not otherwise be capable of paying for the proposed program of study by submitting the supplementary questions form with tick-box checked;
- meet LSHTM’s minimum English language requirements;
- have a first degree at either a first or upper second class equivalency level; and
- have an admission offer for 2021-22 for one of LSHTM’s 19 London-based MSc program of study.
Precedence will be given to candidates who show (in their application documentation) the potential to make noteworthy contributions to public health and/or health-related research in Africa.

Benefits of GSK Scholarships for Future Health Leaders
Each scholarship will cover:
- tuition costs, including any compulsory field trip fees; and
- a tax-free stipend (living stipend) of GBP 17,400.00.

GSK Scholarships for Future Health Leaders – How to Apply

Step 1
Start an application for 2021-22 for a London-based MSc program of study, based on instructions under the ‘How to Apply’ tab on the appropriate program of study page.
Ensure you note that if you are applying for admission to LSHTM and are admitted, you will be requested to pay a deposit within 28 days. If anyone is targeting to apply for a scholarship at LSHTM, please contact the Admissions Team via email within this 28 day period, stipulating the name of this scholarship and the expected decision date. This must be continual for every scholarship for that you are applying for. The admissions team will then apply an extension to the deposit deadline to equate the decision deadline of the scholarship.
Step 2
Make available an online scholarships application, choosing ‘2021-22 GSK Scholarships for Future Health Leaders’ option from the drop-down menu. Concluded supplementary questions form for this scholarship must be uploaded as part of this application. This is the only attachment obligatory in step 2 (as candidates should have already submitted references; transcripts; CV etc. with their application for study).
