Target Groups: The target groups for scholarships are graduates and postgraduates from Sub-Saharan Africa with a Master’s degree who want to pursue PhD courses, either:
- In their native country (scholarship programs are directed at students who study in their native country or in the nation for which they have a residence permit.)
- In another Sub-Saharan African nation (In-Region scholarship programs are intended at students who want to partake in a study program in a nation of their home region (here: Kenya/outside their native country).

Eligibility for African Economic Research Consortium DAAD Scholarships for African Students
African Economic Research Consortium DAAD Scholarships for African Studentsapplicants must meet the following DAAD criteria:
- Should have successfully accomplished generally a two-year university Master’s degree (doctoral applicants) with above average results (at least: Second Class/Upper Division if applicable)
- Should evidently display motivation and strong obligation
- Should possess comprehensive knowledge of the language of instruction
- Should have generally finished their previous university degree not beyond 6 years ago at the time of application
- Should be citizens or permanent residents of a Sub-Saharan African nation
- Must generally be a) member of staff of a public university, b) applicant picked for teaching or research staff recruitment, c) from the public sector and/or d) Alumni of the DAFI-program
- Female candidates and runners from less privileged areas or groups are especially heartened to partake in the program.

Duration of African Economic Research Consortium DAAD Scholarships for African Students: Scholarships are available for up to a maximum of three years, initially granted for one year and may be prolonged upon individual request and receipt of a full application by using forms to be provided. The period of the PhD program is 3 years.
How to Apply for African Economic Research Consortium DAAD Scholarships for African Students
Interested applicants must submit their applications for admission directly to the respective host universities (application procedure can be obtained from the respective university websites). After receiving of an admission letter, temporary admission letter or letter assuring admission from the particular university, the candidate should apply for scholarship by submitting the subsequent documents via http://scholarships.aercafrica.org/ not later than February 20, 2019

- One signed copy of the DAAD Information Sheet for Scholars
- Certified copies of all university degree certificates
- Certified copies of all university transcripts
- At least temporary admission letter with fee structure of respective course (original or certified copy only), or an official letter guaranteeing admission
- Letter of motivation (Maximum 2 pages)
- For members of the faculty, a reference letter from the Head of Department as an evidence of employment (original
only) - PhD proposals which must show significance to agricultural growth
- Two (2) letters of recommendation from academic referees who are at least Senior Lecturer in rank.
