Eligibility for Dalhousie University Scholarships
To be qualified for Dalhousie University Scholarships, the candidates must meet the criteria below:
- Required Language: English.
- Eligible Countries:All world countries
- Minimum GPA of 3.7/4.3 on a Dalhousie Grade Scale is required. Applications with a GPA at or beneath this level necessitate a solid justification from their nominating department (i.e. outstanding scholarly record, or worthiness for diversity-oriented scholarships).
How to Apply for Dalhousie University Scholarships
Follow the following steps below to apply for Dalhousie University Scholarships.
- Only one Harmonized Scholarship application will be accepted per student in a given year.
- Check the list of graduate programs to find the right contacts who will receive your application. Know that not all itemized programs are worthy for research-oriented scholarships.
- Check your intended program of study for its internal closing date (usually occurs in early December). Every mandatory application material should be submitted to your program of study by this internal closing date. Late submission may cause your application not being qualified for review.
- Complete an application form for the Master’s Competition [PDF – 188kb], or Doctoral Competition [PDF – 188kb], checking eligibility for each of the awards listed in the application form.
- Submit the following to your intended program of study:
- Completed application: Master’s Competition [PDF – 188kb] or Doctoral Competition [PDF – 188kb].
- Transcripts from each university attended – unofficial transcripts may be used for review purposes. Every award offers are conditional upon receiving official transcripts from universities other than Dalhousie before acceptance of an award. Inconsistencies between official and unofficial transcripts will usually result in a student becoming ineligible for their award.
- Up to two reference letters – see Standard Reference Form [PDF – 33kb]. Note that while admission reference letters may be re-used for scholarship evaluation purposes, applicants are strongly encouraged to request letters from their referees specifically for scholarship evaluation.
- If eligible for the James Robinson Johnston Graduate Entrance Scholarship for African Canadians, please include a community support letter.
